Bed of Nails
|
If you laid on a single nail, it would hurt. A lot. However, if you laid on a couple thousand evenly balanced nails, it wouldn't hurt. Why? Because a thousand nails has a much larger mass than a single nail. The weight of you is evenly distributed along these nails, and thus it would hurt less. #Science |
EggsHow does this work?
Usually. we perceive eggs as fragile and easy to break. However, as you can see from the video on the bottom right, eggs are actually remarkably strong. If you look at an egg, you can see it has that dome shape. This distributes the weight on either side of the egg. Don't believe me? Go on. Grab an egg. Take off any rings you have on. (This creates an uneven distribution of pressure) Curl the egg around your hand and squeeze. See? Not possible. Now go and wash your hands because eggs are teeming with germs. The principal of walking on Eggs is the same- As long as you distribute your weight evenly across a large amount of eggs, none of the eggs should crack, even if you jump of it. *Important Note: Dammit Jerry. You must keep the eggs in the container. The container gives the eggs support. Else it will crack and you will get egg yolk on your foot. |
